Preparing to get married is a hugely exciting time for most people – though it can bring its own stresses too. At St Saviour’s, we recognise how important it is to feel secure about the arrangements for your wedding day, and we recognise too how seriously you take the commitment of marriage.
For this reason, we hold an annual Wedding Preparation Day – normally on a Saturday in February, from morning till mid-afternoon. At the Wedding Preparation Day, couples have an opportunity both to discuss their wedding service (hymns, vows, readings, and so on), and also to look at some of the big issues involved in making a commitment to be married to someone for the rest of our life. In addition, we look what the Christian view of marriage has to offer to us as we make this step.
The aim of the day is to help you get ready for marriage.
The day includes refreshments in the morning, and lunch. There’s an opportunity to meet with all the other couples who are getting married at St Saviour’s in the coming year, and whole day has an informal and positive feel. Whilst there is some opportunity for group discussion, we respect the privacy of couples, and most discussion is done in pairs with no group feedback.
Every year, our Wedding Preparation Day is popular with the couples who attend, and we see it as one of the highlights in our church’s calendar.
