The Parish of
Oxton
The Parish of Oxton as we know it today is a fast developing and growing community which began life as a small hamlet which was subsequently developed during the Victorian era. Many of the magnificent villas that were built from the middle of the 19th century are still standing, although now surrounded by much newer property. There are some 15000 people live in our Parish. We have a church school and through the clergy are actively involved in four other schools in the Parish i.e. Townfield County Primary School, Hillside County Primary School, Prenton Preparatory School and Birkenhead School where the vicar is Chaplain. There are two church buildings in the Parish being St Saviour and St Andrew. There is an active ecumenical group known as Oxton and Noctorum Churches Together. |
