Evensong on Easter Sunday was Brian Dunn’s last service as out Honorary Verger at St Saviour’s, a role he has filled with great dedication and distinction for a decade. Our thanks to Brian for the exemplary way in which he has carried out his duties, and for the wisdom, kindness and good humour with which he has directed operations, especially on the “big occasions” and helped a whole series of new Clergy and Readers to learn the ropes.
Brian has served God and the Church Family at St Saviour’s man and boy and also has a long association with St Andrew’s. As well as being Honorary Verger, he has, among other things, been Church Warden, a member of the PCC, a Eucharistic Minister, a Chorister and a CLB leader. We have also benefited from his wonderful acting talent and his encyclopedic knowledge of the Church’s history, archives, furnishings and fittings. Many will have cause to be thankful for the way in which he has generously shared his time, his talents and his knowledge with us down the years.
Our best wishes to Brian and to Julie as they take things a little easier now, and our thanks to Phil Smith who is generously taking on the role of Honorary Verger.
