MUSIC AT ST SAVIOUR'S

St Saviour’s has, for many years, enjoyed a very fine musical tradition. This magnificent church is home to a very fine choir consisting of 10 choristers, 5 altos, 1 tenor and 4 basses, who, under the direction of their Director of Music, Shean Bowers, help lead worship week by week.

The Choir, at present, is in the process of recruiting.  (If anyone is interested or wants more information about joining the choir, click on the ‘choir recruitment’ link.)

The Choir leads the music at the 9.30am sung Eucharist and the 6.30pm BCP Evensong, except on the first Sunday of a five Sunday month when the Evening service is a healing service.

St. Saviour’s choir has a  varied repertoire dating back to Palestrina and coming as far up to date as John Rutter and Noel Rawsthorne.

The Choir plays a major role in the church’s carol services at Advent, Christmas and Easter. (For more details please click on the ‘concert series’ link.)

We are a hard working community of musicians with a love and passion for what it is we are there to do. The atmosphere is a very warm, pleasant and friendly one. We are here to sing to the ‘Glory of God’ and when we do the standards need to be high, so we work hard to maintain them.
