Supporting our church’s mission and ministry

Like many other Churches, our income dropped during the periods of lockdown, when our buildings were closed and public worship was banned. We furloughing a number of staff and reduced costs in other ways in these periods, but we still needed to meet a lot of overheads.

Looking to the future, like many other churches, our congregation numbers have dropped markedly in the aftermath of the lockdown periods. This has happened across the Church of England. In a protraction time of trauma and loss across our society, there will be complex reasons for this change in church-attendance patterns. This change brings with it a drop in regular income and consequent financial challenges.

Churches will be able to meet the challenges which the pandemic has brought only if they meet the financial challenges of this time.

Please read the notice immediately below from our churchwardens, and also the other notes on this page, and consider ways in which you can support your church.

Churchwardens, Spring 2020

Everything that happens through St Saviour’s involves people giving their time and their money.

It costs around £3,000 per week to fund our Church’s work. We are entirely self-funding and receive no central government support. So every one of us has an important part to play in enabling the Church to grow and flourish and to make a real difference in the lives of others.

Being generous with our money is part of our lives as disciples. By giving money away, we give thanks to God for all that He has given to us, and we say that He is more important to us than money.
