Giving during the Coronavirus lockdown

Like many other Churches, our income has dropped during the current period of lockdown, when our buildings have been closed and public worship has been banned. We are furloughing a number of staff, but we still need to meet a lot of overheads.

Please read the notice immediately below from our churchwardens, and also the other notes on this page, and consider ways in which you can support your church at this time.

Information about supporting your Church

Everything that happens through St Saviour’s involves people giving their time and their money.

It costs around £3,000 per week to fund our Church’s work. We are entirely self-funding and receive no central government support. So every one of us has an important part to play in enabling the Church to grow and flourish and to make a real difference in the lives of others.

Being generous with our money is part of our lives as disciples. By giving money away, we give thanks to God for all that He has given to us, and we say that He is more important to us than money.

Gift Aid – increase the value of your gift

If you pay tax in the UK (Income or Capital Gains Tax) we would be grateful if you could fill in, sign and return to us an ongoing Gift Aid declaration, so that we can claim back the basic rate of tax through the government’s Gift Aid scheme, It comes at no extra cost to you and we benefit greatly by recovering currently 25p for each pound given.

Giving by Standing Order – easy and convenient

You can easily setup a standing order at your local bank or online with these details.

Other ways to give

Cheques are made payable to OXTON ST SAVIOUR PCC.

You may wish to consider leaving a legacy to the church in your Will. To read a leaflet giving more details about this, please click on this link.

Payroll Giving is a way of giving money to charity without paying tax on it. It must be paid through PAYE from someone’s wages or pension. Your employer needs to set up and run the scheme. The amount of tax relief you get depends on the rate of tax you pay.
